NYC flea market

The best part of eating at Shake Shack, besides the chocolate peanut butter concrete, was the flea market just across the street! Nothing I love more than a vintage jewelry bargain bin!

New Jersey thrifting = Awesome.

I never knew Charlie Sheen and Storm Troopers were so thrifty!

You know you want to.

The Cafe Press store is now OPEN for all your All Thrifty States gear needs! Shirts, bags, hats and undies!

Just look on the bar at the left for the link to lots and lots of fun products.

Yeah, I know-- ironic that a consumerism documentary project is pimping logoed gear.  But hey, all the proceeds will go towards the trip (hello? gas money?) and besides, nothing beats an awesome yellow logo across your chest.

Eventually I hope to get iron-on decals of the logo so folks can go to thrift stores themselves and find one they like to iron it onto.  If anyone knows a place that does that, please let me know!

The Dream RV

This is the RV I've been eyeing--- ain't she a beauty?

It's a compact RV that I'm hoping will be my home for 4-6 weeks. I've been emaling Cruise America to see if they might be willing to donate or at least discount the rental rate for this 3 person roadtrip machine, but after several emails I still haven't heard back yet. Depending on the number of days and miles I put on it, it could be between $3-$5K to rent.

Yeah, yeah, I know-- it's not a used one like I'd envisioned (insurance, license and reigstration are just too cost prohibitive.....) but still along the same thrifty lines since it's VERY fuel efficient and green. I sure picked one heck of a time for gas prices to attempt this little endeavor, didn't I?

I can just picture the All Thrifty States banner taped to the sides of it now.  And the inside-- well-- that's what  I'm REALLY looking forward to! Can you say "Thriftacular party mobile?"

So if anyone knows of someone over at Cruise America they think might be able to help me get this home on wheels booked, let me know. Otherwise this trip will have to be quick and dirty.

Let the planning begin!

This project started on a whim and a prayer. But this summer it will come alive!

Now that the fundraising has reached our base amount, we've begun planning the logistics of the trip.  Hitting all 48 states is no easy task. I'm lucky to have my father's trucker blood in my veins and some adventurous friends willing to keep me company at various places along the way.

In the coming days and weeks we'll be rolling out more details about the RV, finalized trip dates, route, planned stops and introduce you to some of the folks that will be hanging out in the passenger seat.
